Sheldon J. Plankton is the arch-nemesis of Sponge Bob and Mr. Krabs'.
Technologically savvy, Plankton is Mr. Krabs' tiny, green, oval-shaped, one-eyed business rival who runs a "competing" (though remarkably unpopular) restaurant called the Chum Bucket, located directly across the street from the Krusty Krab.

In addition to being his workplace, the Chum Bucket is Plankton's home, and also contains his "secret" laboratory, where he develops his inventions and schemes. Plankton views Mr. Krabs as greedy (which he is), and Mr. Krabs views Plankton as a thief (which he is). His numerous nearly successful but ultimately foiled plans typically involve the secret recipe for the copyrighted Krabby Patty, the main food item served at the Krusty Krab, in order to produce them himself.

Plankton lives with Karen, his dear computer "W.I.F.E." (Wired integrated Female Electroencephalograph), who irritates him to no end. Plankton enjoys pursuing various forms of villainy, such as Krabby Patty theft and mind control. He not only wants to be the king of fast food, but the supreme ruler of the world.
